God is good all the time. During my three years of work in a bank, I was constantly shielded by the favour of God and blessed with peace and joy in all situations. However, due to my autoimmune illness, I frequently took medical leave and even took three weeks of hospital leave due to an operation in mid-2020.
All these resulted in little or no increment in my salary and zero chance of promotion. Even then, I was grateful to be able to work with my condition and earn enough to provide for my family. In late 2020, my wife gave birth to a newborn, and she resigned from her job to be a full-time mum.
Our family expenses increased exponentially. I secretly prayed for God to grant me an increase even as I rested in Him. In early 2021, I was led to apply for three roles to test the market and practice my interviewing skills, not expecting anything in return. I have been particularly fearful of interviews since I was young and always tremble before one, but nothing can stop the glory and favour of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Unqualified and nervous, I declared before every interview that Jesus attends the interview on my behalf. Truly all of my interviews were positive, and I was even offered a role that had an increment which seemed impossible according to the hiring experts. It is a miracle to land a job amid COVID-19 when many lost theirs and more so to receive a substantive increment. Thank you, Jesus, for your favour and Grace, and as children of God, we need not toil and struggle as the world does.
